Mongo Deco
We are a loose network of people in Ann Arbor and Detroit doing interior design based entirely on salvaged items and materials. Mongo Deco is the name of our group and our aesthetic. [“Mongo” is New York slang for ‘any discarded object that is retrieved’.]
That means everything we use to furnish and decorate a room is salvaged from the curbside, the junkyard, or the landfill, found in some forgotten place, in rare cases purchased secondhand, in all cases reused in some way, and tastefully arranged in collaboration with whoever owns or uses that room.
