Mike, I'm glad you weren't there when GirlNextDoor forcefully threw the wreath into our garbage can the other day. To be fair, it was getting old and falling apart. But that trauma might have ruined your spiritual life forever.

thanks m, the tator tot is a challenging medium. i actually overcooked them first (remember middle school lunches - the overcooked tots were the HARDEST and WORST.) it was a good holiday project, but the rest of the neighborhood was awfully confused, and a roommate of mine did try to sneak a coated tot. ew.

next month, i'll be doing an anti-ode to the dude who called my neighbor a "tot." i will spit on his beefyness: the first ever dinty moore beef stew wreath, which will morph into a dead raccoon wreath - w/ incorporation of my friend dennis' patented fish hook method (hide fishhooks in the meat, snag the critters when they go for a wreath-snack.)

i understand this might be a confusing concept, but so was a tater tot wreath, until it materialized. wait for it...............

plus, we all know what comes in small packages.

The inspiration came from a story about when I got called a "tater tot" by this big beefy dude. He had rented a truck to move some stuff out of his basement, and at the same time me and my partner were hauling some appliances from the same place when his phone rang. "Nothing," he says to the person on the other end. "I'm here at the house...they've got a coupla tater tots moving the washing machine..."

For the record, I had no trouble hauling that washing machine or anything else out of the basment.

I'm curious; where did the tot wreath inspiration come form? Was it a moment of "Oh, hell, the electricity is out...and all the frozen food is history...including these tots. If only I could make a wreath to memorialize their life and share their beauty with the world!"

I can just imagine cold sparrows alighting to rest on the golden ring...perhaps attempting to nibble the deep-fried polyunsaturated potato reconstructive, but, alas...polyurethane.

I just took the liberty of googling "tater tot wreath". You are the only person on the face of the planet who has a webpage listing this ingenious ode to a tot. Again, I say, bravo.

Polyurethane (not shellac), and I resent being called a "friendly neighbor." Sounds creepy.

Is anyone else amazed at how well those tots have held up in this climate?
